Making a terrarium in a jar is very easy to do and all you need are a few things. Here is a step by step instruction on how to make a terrarium in a jar.

Things required

* 1 large glass mason jar
* Organic potting soil
* Small stones and pebbles
* Terrarium charcoal
* Sheet moss
* Seeds or small plants

Procedure

For make a terrarium for kids, first you need to wash the mason jar thoroughly and remove any labels. Now place a layer of small labels inside the jar and then layer it with a thin layer of terrarium charcoal. Once you have done this, gently add some potting soil recipe so as to get a 3 to 4 inch of soil layer. Now tear the sheet moss and fit it inside the mason jar over the potting soil. Sprinkle a few seeds or the small plants and then lightly pour a bit of water. Once you have watered the terrarium, screw the lid on top of the jar. Place it in a sunny area, like a window sill and soon you will see plants starting to grow. Every week, open the lid of the terrarium and add a little water.
